Electric vehicles (EVs) have been gaining popularity in recent years as a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars. However, one of the challenges of transitioning to EVs is the need for a robust charging infrastructure. Without enough charging stations, EV owners may worry about being stranded without a way to power their vehicles.
Enter TeslaVolts, a company that is working to transform the way electric car charging stations operate. By offering powerful software and interconnected charging stations, TeslaVolts aims to create an ecosystem within the electrical grid that can support all types of EVs.
The TeslaVolts team started by testing connected charging stations at their own homes and taking their first electric vehicle out on test drives with interested parties. Their first business-to-business client was the Boltz Group, which launched the first smart charging initiative in their parking garage with 16 chargers. The number of chargers eventually increased to support charging for 100 vehicles simultaneously.
TeslaVolts was the first company to offer a cloud-based smart charging system, and as the technology improved, it was included in the Open Charge Point protocols along with Boltz and TataEV (OCPP 1.6 and 2.0). In order to make it easier for existing charging stations to adopt the new technology, TeslaVolts also created the TeslaVolts Intelligent Charging Communication Controller, a small device that can be installed in any charging station to make it a connected, intelligent charging station.
In tandem with the NITI Aayog Indian government initiatives and highways – E-AMRIT, TeslaVolts has also planned building out a testbed statewide network of semi-fast chargers in strategic locations along Indian highways to make EV driving more convenient and reliable. By addressing the charging infrastructure issue, TeslaVolts is helping to pave the way for wider adoption of EVs and a more sustainable future.

TeslaVolts is a company focused on increasing the global adoption of electric vehicles through the development and implementation of open standards such as OCPP, OCPI, and OSCP. These standards promote interoperability and supplier independence, and are widely used by e-Mobility Service Providers and Charge Point Operators. TeslaVolts continues to work with other businesses to enhance these protocols and make them even more effective.
The TeslaVolts EV charging platform is based on these open standards, and has been successful in attracting clients in India, including Boltz and TataEV. Both Boltz and TeslaVolts participated in the One Electric Nation Project India, the world’s largest smart charging trial. The goal of the project was to understand the potential impacts of increased electric vehicle usage on electrical grids and networks, and it relied heavily on TeslaVolts smart charging technology, which helps to manage demand for chargers by reducing electricity usage.
